Zero Waste University

About project
Zero Waste University was a student project launched in June 2017 at the Technical University of Ostrava (VŠB) in the Czech Republic. The aim of the project is to raise students’ awareness about separation and recycling of waste in everyday life.
This was also my first project that I worked for another language besides English.

The demands that were set before me were the new, fresher brand identity and its greater visibility on social networks. I started the task from the foundation, beginning with the key values that the project carries.
Logo
Given that there already existed sketches of the logo, they helped me to refine it further. The result is an inspiring logo that carries a clear message – by transforming existing things, we create a new one.

Visual elements
In addition to the logo, a color palette has been developed. The combination of ZWU black, ZWU green and ZWU white gives a strong contrast to the important messages that the project carries. In addition, additional visual elements include textures, fonts and recycling circles – symbols that already have wide recognition.

As the project became more serious, there comes the need for new materials such as posters, stickers, leaflets …
